Smol Home is a speculative smart home project featuring Beepo, a virtual pet whose wellbeing depends on how well you care for your space—and, byextension, yourself. Inspired by Tamagotchis and the emotional stakes they created through cuteness and guilt, Beepo gets upset when dishes pile up or laundry is ignored, encouraging you to act out of empathy rather than obligation. The system uses sensors and a custom-trained tinyML model to detect clutter, with real-time data sent to a Raspberry Pi that drives Beepo’s animated reactions. Everything is housed in custom 3D-printed enclosures designed for a snug, polished fit. By turning mundane chores into acts of care, Smol Home playfully reframes adulting as a cohabitation with a needy (and extremely dramatic) little roommate.
